kolkata : reliance thunder 599 ( 1 mbps ) vs tata docomo limitless 1 mbps

Ok guys. I had wishnet connected today.

Getting a cable through to my room, which is at the far end of the flat was a big issue. So they have setup a wifi transmitter at the top of the front building of the complex( there is a park inbetween my building and that building and connected my pc with a wifi router.

The speed is amazing for now. This is while my 25 Tabs in chrome were loading and opening.

They have not charged me any installation money and told me to try it out. If I am satisfied refer them to more customers.

I will test it for few days and let you know hows the speed and if there are any downtime problems..

But the package is amazing as of now - 1.5 mbps speed, at night 8 mbps speed, unlimited, costs about Rs 1235, much better than vodaphone.

I am only concerned about virus( but as it is wifi and not direct lan, I doubt it will be like cable virus problems) and main issue of lighting falling on their dish antenna and damaging every equipment, which takes weeks to repair.

Let me try this for few months, but as I am more concerned about downloading and not speed, the plan fits well.

edit: I have connected one pc and 1 samsung tablet and samsung grand with it.

Frankly didn't think about it while I wrote above. But LAN connections can have worms more than viruses which can clog the speed down.

If the connection remains open all the time, there is a chance they will come any way. I just do not let it remain open all the time and a good antivirus always helps.

Well had a downtime at 6 in the evening yesterday. Called them they fixed in an hour.

Then had another downtime at 8.

I am not sure it is because they are purposely shutting it off, because I downloaded 4.5 GB in 4 hrs or because as the complex is new and work is going on in the buildings, someone switched off the wireless transmitter in that building. I have no idea how that works.

I started during the 8 MBPS speed time in the morning and the speed is amazing, downloaded 500 MB in 7 minutes.

I think I will have to keep some backup net while using this for those times when this one goes down.

there is no limit. That is the best part. I have already downloaded 8 GB in 2 days. But I will only be able to guess once the whole month passes.

My problem is still not resolved at 6 in the evening it again stops and mysteriously starts at 6 in the morning again and my major work is done at night, as my clients are in USA.

This is average speed during the night till 9 AM. Though I am not sure the upload speed is good or not because in the day time, it took me 3 hours to upload a 388 mb file on Dropbox which is very weird, because even with vodaphone it takes half an hour. I am going to try now and see what's the upload speed during the night time.
