Welcome to broadbandforum.co
1.Beetel 220BX1(one) is a good modem, and you may get it from Airtel itself.
2.If you are using a laptop and want mobility you have to buy a wireless router also.
3. AdslModem+wireless router is also available. Example DG834G Netgear.
4. Search in Ebay for ADSL modems for price comparison.
adsl modem items at low prices on eBay India
5. Usually any Computer shop will stock modems of Netgear/D-Link/Linksys etc.
6. Or make a trip to Kollam and explain the matter to BSNL CC there. They may sell you .a type 1 for Rs 1200 , I think. Advantage: they will replace it if it goes faulty within a year.

@vichu,go to a nearby computer dealer and ask for ADSL Router (Adsl modem +Router) !or do as essbebe said (go to kollam exchange and purchase) then, Deze, Gud kind of english you can avoid, help us to read better ! This is not an sms forum. So you can type completely :) wont hurt :) !How much time it takes to type 'the' instead of 'de' ? and 'they' instead of 'dey' ! I see mainly they give type I modem in kerala. My brother got type I in three places. Two offices + Home. When i visited, i carried my type IV modem and used there since i had to use my laptop ! It is always better to go for Type III or Type IV if you want to connect more than one pc or wireless ! All the best wishes in getting a modem !!

@ Appus:

Sorry 4 Ma Hard English!! :)

@ Essbebe:

U Said tat I can get modem From Airtel..Wil u Plz Xplain How??n Plz do Remember tat I applied 4 BSNL Broadband, not Airtel!!I'm using Desktop PC!!

If you have not disconnected their serviceshow your latest bill and ask for the modem. Else not possible.

hi..i am from kollam, karikode../they said the same to me..when i applied for connection..if u have any contacts at bsnl main office in chinnakada..u'll get instantly..or go tell in consumer cell at main office that ur ready to purchase the modem...they may tell only typpe 2 (1800 rs ) is available...if u ready, buy it...otherwise connections can get very late...

@ hafissayed:

Tanx 4 that...:)n Will u Plz tell Wherez Consumer Cell n Main office xactly??Wot do u mean truly by CONTACTS IN MAIN OFFICE??:PHow fast u got the Connection after buying the Modem??

I've one more question!!If I Buy a Modem...Can I Configure settingz n Access 2 Internet by Myself??Will u Guyz Help Me in tat??n i have Selected the Night Unlimited Plan!!I think Itz From 2 Am to 8 Am!!Am I rite??At this Period, will the Browsing n Downloading is Completely Free,Even If I Download Filez wid Greater Size??

1. Location of bsnl main office and consumer cell (both are in adjacent buildings)..it is located just opttosite to supreme bakers...hopw you know that...its at the heart of chinnakada..just go to chinnakada n ask for bsnl new office.. NOT OLD OFFICE..2. contacts in bsnl office means any relatives or friends working there. they can speed up the process.. also personally seeing the consumer manager (sitting at consumer cell) n telling them that its urgent can speed up the process (atleast it worked for me! :))3. night unlimited = total unlimited...whatever u browse, download, etc. wont b counted as usage hrs (2-8)...4. speeds are ok..i get around 220 kbps download speed at morning hrs...night is slower..but sumtimes speeds up..u can ask the bsnl guys to configure for you if its familiar to them...by the way wher did u register ur connection - online, main office, or ur region's exchange?
