The actual price of each provider is definitely going to differ but being subsequent providers most of the Co.s are going to enter into competitive pricing at which they will offer lower than the existing monopolist (atleast if they want to attract customers considering the price factor) another question that may arise is will lower rates offered by other DTH providers for HDTV change the preference of customers to switch to other brands from their existing DTH? There is a certain introduction of HD TV by most of the dth providers this is backed by the strain on dth to launch it before the commonwealth games. Demand may vary from the next dth who is immediately out with HDtv but that again depends on the cost effective lauch if it will be at higher cost prospects will wait for more other launches until the budget is compatible to the customer this will increase the choice scope of customers making the DTH to take strategic steps for sale.

I just hope the govt. can enforce interoperable (HD enabled) STBs this time around. That way at least the operators won't take customers for granted since they're stuck with a specific DTH provider's STB. You might say that mobile number portability still isn't here but we can always hope.

Interoperable or no interoperable competition always prevails but what can be brought out is the unhealthy competition that may be ruled out with the entrance of more stringent competition when all dth start using the interoperable function. Ease in the process of choice will be obtained by customers with this type of function making inter-industry switch in preference of DTH provider. Operators will have to provide cutting edge quality as well as service to stay ahead in its position also there will be healthy competitive enviornment.
