local area network takes too long to apear

i am with Nokia siemens c2110 dataone UL750 on USB modem window xp sp3the problem is that when i start my compuetr first all the light of modem do disco ( blip) fo too long long long then the local area network apear around 7 minutes anything i can do to solve this

Try another modem and check.

When did you last clean up your computer ?
How long it takes to load all applications ?

Try opendns 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222

Have you registered a complaint with BSNL. If is a hardware problem, BSNL will be your best chance.

oh yeah i got the problem solved although the service babu says its faulty adapter he changed both the adapter and the modem in the process (he got confused took out many modem and adapter from the store and forget which one is mone (they all look alike))

so although the prob got solved i got following for anyone taking new modem

1. check your modem/adapter at the bsnl exchange itself .. if it bleep like disco for more then 3 sec then modem/adapter is faulty

2.Nokia siemen got many version they will look same from outside the one i m having says adsl2+ in summary while the earlier one didnt

3.if u dont like your modem due to any reason (if its old age and showing some minor defect which bsnl cant detect)and want to change it(if its under warranty) then there is trick to manually make it go bad .. try reset to factory from 192.168.1.1 and simultaneously press the reset button . the modem will go disfunctional enough to be recognised by bsnl for replacement

Try opendns 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222

tell u thing dude opendns is the worst dns
1. its slow then bsnl and then other dns provider
2.blocks sites it 'suspect' is bad (adult or something) i dont like this police petrol
3.even the opendns server is slower then bsnl server for dns (try pinging)
4.u can try a program dnsbench to say which is the best dns for u

and yes every thing is back to normal now!:cool2:
