Low bsnl broadband speed

My house is 5.5kms from the exchange.The connection was given a month before and I'm still complaining about speed issues and frequent disconnections.My plan is 2GB CUL (Rs.399)-8Mbps till 2GB/day,1Mbps beyond.I'm receiving very low speed comparable to the plan.What should I do? I have complained several times to line man.Line man checked the line and he said changing the cables.I have complained via pg portal and twitter, but nothing proved to be useful.

Well, the issue is the distance from the exchange. Unfortunately that is pretty much the maximum you could possibly get. You could make use of DSL calculators such as ::. Kitz - Max speed calculator .:: or hierzo.net and see.

If you need higher speeds you'd need to switch to FTTH if available.

If they increase the data rate on your connection then you can expect even more frequent disconnects. DSL is only good for those that live within 1 km from the exchange. I was 3 kms away from the exchange and the max attainable stable speed they could provide was 4mbps. I moved to FTTH.

When I had a BSNL ADSL broadband, I had a Line rate of 22500 down / 1300 Up for my 20 Mbps plan. I live about 800 meters from the exchange.
However, for my friend who lived about 2.3 km from the exchange, he had horrible line stats.
