Low Download Speed

Hi! friends..

Following are my speed test results..

But whenever i download something, the maximum speed i get is 10 kbps.
initially for 2-3 seconds it shows speed of 40 kbps and then degrades to 10 kbps..

PS: I am on 128 kbps unlimited plan........

Can someone help me, pls...

Bro on a 128kbps connection u only get 10-16 KBps. Initially u get 40 KBps because when u r busy deciding the location to save the file the comp. is still dling the file at a temp. location. And u getting 81 kbps is fine. Because acc. to the 699 plan u get speeds ranging from 64-128 kbps. This is what I was told when I asked the CC about this issue.

The speed you get is influenced by various factors, and since some of them are out of your control the speed you get is partially influenced by luck.

I get around 160-170kbps on my 128 unlimited line. (Translates to about 19-21kbps download speed)

Two things you could try:

(1) Try using a download accelerator like Download Accelerator Plus to see if your speeds improve. It wont be drastic, but you may get 3-4kbps more.
(2) Use TCP optimizer to optimize your MTU and other settings.
