Opening Teams app using link on a Mac

Experienced this issue just now. I can't believe that MS has not provided any solution to this major problem. I mean, there's no way I can make the Teams app start a meeting with a meeting link. It just goes to the browser and wouldn't open the already installed app, I can only host a meeting and invite others.
