Did a fair amount of research in last 2 years while buying
AC. Here are my 2 cents:
For MHI, the imported models are gonna cost you a fortune while the ones made in India are not that great. After sales service is a big problem, outsourced to a third party vendor and spare parts are super expensive. The imported ones are great machines if you have the budget.
I think
OGeneral had some good offers going on a few months ago, they offered free standard installation iirc. You can check on
Amazon.
After going back and forth with MHI and Mitsubishi Electric, I decided not to go with them simply because of the above mentioned reasons. Not worth the premium at all, atleast here in Pune where the summers are not that hot and last for only 2-3 months. In your case, gurgaon remains hot for way longer so do explore OGeneral, I feel its more VFM.
A little off topic but here's what I feel about AC brands in India:
Panasonic and
Voltas are the only two brands which offer good after sales and service here in Pune. I have got 3 Panasonic ACs and 1 Voltas AC for the guest bedroom.
Panasonic is better build, has good after sales service and is very power efficient. I got the 3 star model and it saves on a lot of power. Takes around 5-10 mins to bring down the room temperature to desired level(typical
inverter compressor behaviour).
Voltas has inferior build but it cools brilliantly. Cools down the room in about a minute or two(west facing direct sunlight). Surprisingly it was the cheapest AC I bought from
flipkart for 27k. 1.5T 3S. Spare part availability is also great with Voltas across India. A little power hungry compared to the Panasonics but worth it given the time it takes to cool down a baked up room.
I always had this opinion in my that voltas is bad but using it since last 2 years and my opinion has turned around. Sure it's build poorly but works very well. Even if it lasts for 5-6 years, I'd say money well spent.
If I were to buy another AC I will definitely get a Voltas. Can also explore Bluestar, seen a lot of them at restaurants and
Hotels lately.
