Mobikwik Data Breach - The Biggest KYC Data Leak

at best they might not get data on what else is installed. apart from that, i imagine ios is going to be similar to android.

if the data is being offered for a price, i am guessing dump does not have all info. so just assume that cvv etc data is also leaked.

in theory this information on its own is not enough to make transactions. but it is still not good that all this is now in public domain. not an expert in this area but spoofing mobile sims seems to be something that is possible and cheap if you know where to look for. and mobile otps have as much power as signatures these days. i imagine someone with your debit card details and a spoofed sim card could potentially activate/reset UPI and use it for fraud transactions. similar with credit cards i imagine.

i blocked my debit card which was leaked on mobikwik. but now i am confused should i change the registered mobile number too, because the same number (which is present on data dump) is registered with my bank account for OTPs.

i mean if that is an option you can go ahead with, i suppose it should help. in the end... i guess the main lesson here is to keep a separate number banks and not use the same number for these digital services. if one can manage handling it like that.

i am a single person guy and i do not think i am going to take the drastic step of changing my number and then update it at x number of places. easier to just replace cards.

is using tor browser on main pc safe? any extra precautions?

Fuck I used them only once in 2015. I forgot I ever signed up for their service.

Tor is safer than chrome. It just relays your traffic through 3 other servers, similar to a VPN (not exactly similar), thus anonymising your traffic. So, it's a lot safer. It doesn't use your network to contribute to the tor network. The tor relay servers/ nodes are run by volunteers on tor friendly ISP and data centers, they won't be keen on utilizing Airtel or Jio or Excitel networks actually.

personally what I did was applied for new card and got the linked one blocked- used bitwarden and changed my passwords everywhere.
I think I did do kyc on Mobikwik but I never give my aadhar so I think I must have given my passport number. Im not sure how this can be misused .

Mobile number is definitely an issue but I cant see myself getting a new number and then changing it everywhere.
