Mobile Phone with internal Answering Machine functionality

HelloSomeone asked me suggest a basic mobile with Answering Machine feature.A similar thread is like 4 years old, so I'm asking here.Apparently his old phone Samsung S3500 has this feature & he doesn't want to use voicemail thingy.Looking for something cheap & best, so haven't decided on brand & form factor yet.Any recommendations?Thanks

I have not heard of mobile devices with built in answering machine functionality :O

I've been looking for such an app for my Android phone, but haven't found one. I don't know why such an app cannot be built or such a service is not allowed in our phones. Why should we be forced to use the voicemail service from our provider when it's perfectly possible to implement such a service on our phones itself?

^^ I think the only way is to use some auto sms answer app, but no proper answering machine facility on android too.

Well, in mobile phones you can setup a Voicemail service by paying a monthly rental to your service provider.I guess that is all you can do as of now.

Actual question has been answered, that's an alternative if the answering feature is "that" important anyway..

An old Samsung phone that my Dad was using had this feature, no longer in use now. I'm sure it's still lying somewhere in my home.
