modem scheduler help

plz help me
my configuration is as following
os------------------windows xp pro sp2
hardware -----------pIV intel ,motherboard 865 ,256mb nvidia gfx card ..
plan ----------------500home plan (2.5 gb limit) 256-2mb/s speed
modem -------------data one ut-300r2u (connected through eathernet port)

my problem is not the speed or any disconnected problem .
i frequently using torrents from 2am to 8 am (free time)
my problem is ----i set my pc scheduler to autoshutdown at 8 am .coz i have limited btw.
but until i shutdown my modem manualy-my bandthwidth spend continuesly.means after shut down my pc at 8am ,if i shutdown my modem at 11am then within 3 hrs --upto 150 mb automaticly used (i dont know where)
when i ask this problem to customer care ,to told me that there is no solution for this problem,u should swith off your modem manually):wall:
i have used so many scheduler applications but no success.
i schedule my eathernet card to be disconnect at 8am but same problem.
plz friends tell me if there is any solution for my problem.
and one moe thing - is there any way so that my modem use power input from my mother board? or my modem power adeptor connected to my pc smps power supply?

ur modem maybe connecting in the PPPOE mode and not in the BRIDGE mode as you think.

change the connection to bridge mode in your router. so you can disconnect the line same as dialup

when i configure it to bridge mode,my net disconnects.
