This is definitely a good phone to gift someone. Will prolly gift one to my grandma (She still uses of those old Nokia phones i think :lol
If people want real android experience, can just save 7k+ now and get moto G or any other "decent" phone later.

This is a good beginner phone for anyone. Sure it does not have a front camera or a flash at the back... For most folks it should matter much.

I am thinking of getting one for my dad. He does not need data so it should last for him for 2 days at least I guess?

Just call/text? I think so. Moto optimizes their battery pretty well.
