Motorola has promised one guaranteed update. So it should get the 4.5 or 5.0 at least. Unless of course they were talking about 4.4.3.

They are specifically talking about 4.4.3 as guaranteed update

Care to explain what insane and impractical things Motorola has done so far? Infact they showed the world that its perfectly possible to make decent quality phones without burning a hole through your pocket. Samsung is yet to get that concept. And so is Lenovo.

Well, Motorola was pretty bad as far as updates were concerned before Google acquisition (No updates were released for some of their popular selling phones like Defy+, Defy XT). They even cancelled ICS updates for pretty powerful phones like Photon 4G/Electrify and Atrix (both are dual core phones with 1GB RAM). They even released minor update before announcing cancellation which made the bootloaders of these phones unlockable.

But a lot has changed now and Motorola now tops the manufacturers as far as updates are concerned :-)

I think this hype will die in few days. I remember same thing happened when Nexus 4 was launched. Within 3-4 weeks it was readily available.

Moto G actually. Nexus 4 never did sell in such large numbers. Everyone who wanted it already bought it through some route or the other. :) Moto X did not as well. Nexus 5 saw good numbers though.
