Shameful on flipkarts part. They can't become Amazon.
You are comparing a novice and a well established company!

Amazon is not only ecommerce website but it is also one of biggest data centre company!

It's just you can't compare!

Same like if anyone compares Alibaba and Amazon!

Some didn't agree when I commented that FK should have started with the users who registered their email to notify them.
Probably they wanted to test if their site could take burst traffic - now they have the test results.

Yup. Amazon power online services like Netflix because of the infrastructure they have created over the last two decades. Flipkart on the other hand I am guessing still relies on Akamai like external providers. And I am guessing they want to stay away from Amazon S3 for competitive reasons. Or maybe they are already using Amazon infrastructure. In the end... they just do not have the technical capabilities that Amazon has.

The main and severe problem with India
is offshore hosting!
Come on Flipkart spend some millions to at least develop a powerful data centre !
If not in India but at least in abroad!!!

there is no reason to reinvent the same thing again if you do not want to enter the market of providing cloud computing services. google and Amazon and akamai and others are doing it already.

As for Myntra... It is also a very small entity compared to Flipkart. From what I remember, the difference in revenues is like 150 million and 1 billion dollars for the two companies.

I agree with admin. Netmagic has same things across nation.
Then it is not necessary to do same thing.
Instead of doing, it is better to invest in Engineers and restructure whole website if it is incapable to meet traffic

That is not a reinvention!Personal Datacentres Are hell lot important as if you operate on others u lave limitations like-
Non Customization
Limited no. Of ur engineers
Slow response
U have to run behind them like a tail of diagnostic and troubleshooting issues!!!

IMO it will cost a lot even if revenues are high
