Movies Now HD Channel Launched

This channel is free to air and available in chennai with out any set-top box or dth. The AV quality is awesome. I watched Transporter in 5.1 surround sound exp. Hope they air it freely.

Can HD channel be transmitted/received without a STB?

Not required. The IPTV is capable of transmitting HD channels, which will be recieved and converted in the STB. Only issue is the current bandwidth which the current phone lines are capable of.
Local cable also has the capability of providing HD transmission, and will be the best if maintained properly.

Did you understand the question??? In first place its asked can HD transmission come to your TV without a STB??? This is not a question about " Can HD transmission come only thru DTH" Either you use Cable/IPTV/DTH/HITS/ OTA(terrestrial) all will need a STB as Indian TVs do not have an inbuilt tuner for HD. I hope you can understand that first.

from what i see a stb would be required in any case. no way a cable guy can deliver HD quality video through local cabling.

Sundirect has launched this channel in HD. The channel name is English movies Hd test. IT seems they are testing and would be launched in a day or two
