We are definitely poorer in terms of Internet access. Even poorer than our arch rival Pakistan. PTCL (Pak's BSNL/MTNL) provides so better plans on unlimited range, you can't even imagine. Take a look!
Welcome to PTCL

Note : Pak's rupee is 0.45 times Indian rupee, so plans there are much cheaper in INR!!!

Thats not the same thing.. :|
If i lived in United states..I would point out India and be like....god knows what!!

Okay, even if you remove rupee conversion thing, plans are still better and much affordable when compared to BSNL. Don't you agree on that?Disclaimer : That was not a hate post at all and not meant to hurt anyone's feeling about nation. I love my country deeply, just comparing rationally on the debated plans.

I know Vodafone is expensive as hell but they are 100 times more reliable and I get 3G network everywhere in Mumbai. Will port in a month.May be due to less load on network, who knows, MTNL's 3G network might improve and pave a way for higher speeds. But this is just shitty wishful thinking :nono:

those who all recharged 2500 few days back are damn lucky and the last ones to enjoy unlimited internet... secondly these disconnections would be over by this weekend then you all can enjoy ul 3g till your recharge finishes...yeah i think once they get the load off unlimited users their network would be less congested and better frequency i guess then.., and yes they would revise their plans again after 6months. as per trai a plan rolled out has to be valid for 6months atleast...mtnl has a trend of changing plans every 6months as well...soon we will land up the gb cap of bsnl which is 1000rs for 10gb!!!

Sms you get after rechargin.....

I had a look. The broadband plans are the same as what our local cable provider gave with almost the same prices lol.We found mtnl cheaper so we switched to it.But u can imagine how the situation is if they have to rely on their government's telecomm company for good broadband plans when we have local cable operators providing the same :D.As for 3G, its no better, if not worse, than our own. They have mentioned FUP applies to all of their 3G prepaid unlimited plans which i think defeats the purpose of making a plan with unlimited usage.Unfortunately telecomm providers(both here and across the border) don't understand that. While it same on the lines of mtnl of providing true unlimited only with postpay plans. The only true unlimited 3G in their prepaid gives you just 256Kbps speeds. You call that 3G!!

across the border i mean like abroad US/UK/Europe government has considered internet as a basic commodity of life due to which they have rationalized the plans so cheap and the fups are like 500gb a month or so which is practically unlimited...i wish when would our government something like that

Might sound cynical, but i don't see anything like that happening in India..ever :D. Cause i don't think these countries have limits to even speeds and bandwidth.

You are good if you live in big city like Mumbai where they give you good cable operator plans with unlimited usage. I was stating on nationwide basis, their ADSL plans are better than BSNL plans. Where do BSNL provides true unlimited plans over 512 Kbps at affordable/reasonable rates? There are unlimited plans like 2 mbps and 4 mbps but with exorbitant prices like 9000 and 15000 INR respectively. I don't see PTCL charging that much for their true unlimited plans.

I agree their 3G services suck and I was not pointing that out by the way.
