MTNL Delhi MTNL Broadband = Chai Paani / Jugaad

Very long back - about 3-4 years back. When I had certain issue and it was not resolved.

I called consumer grievance number of MTNL (printed on back of bill) and my issue was resolved in 2-3 days. (after 4-5 calls though)

Yes i know.

Its due to decades old wires rotting underground. Since MTNL is already in deep losses, it doesn't invest to lay new underground wires for years. The condition of their blue/grey boxes is even worse. It has big holes due to rust. And only GOD can tell how to identify & fix those tangled wires in those boxes.

MTNL can work on simple issues. But if you have problem due to bad Infrastructure (poor wiring, rotten cables, broken boxes etc). Not much hope there.

I can say I am overall happy with my MTNL broadband. Speeds are as promised. Very less close to none downtime. whenever problem it is solved by technician within one working day. That guy takes 100 rs diwali once a year thats fine as I have his personal number for quicker service.

Only problem I have with them is no new 2+ mbps plans. which I guess not going to change soon as they are loss making.

i guess the service vary in every area, it all depends on the local staff for the minor non technical problems.

The line man which comes to repair in my area used to take chai paani 3-4 years back but now he himself refuse to take chai paani from anyone

there are several issues with mtnl but long downtimes isn't so it works for me

well i've been using MTNL past 4 years and I belong to Delhi. I've never faced any personal issues though I agree if you are having any problem it takes them whole 1 day to respond but issue is fixed. But there services vary area wise. One of my friend had terrible experience with MTNL but he was very active and kept eating the Technician's Head and after some time that issue was fixed.

Yes thats the best thing about MTNL. If you have problem and your problem is not solved - you can directly go and meet the head at exchange!

You can meet, try to convince or argue!

With any other ISP - its like - max you can do is shout on phone (in which case phone gets disconnected within few seconds!)
