MTNL Broadband Plan for Rs. 49 with 200MB data transfer

if we are to believe mgcarley... bandwidth in india could cost below 10 rupees per GB...

so for 200MB... the charges comes to around 2 rupees... its a sheer robbery to charge 50 bucks for it.

mgcarley had said (if I recall correctly) biggies like MTNL buy bandwidth at Rs.5/GB. So 200MB should (theoretically) cost Re.1 :ishock:!

Fiasco?!?!This plan which was launched just yesterday now it says "to be launched"!looks like some ISPs pressured MTNL heads not to launch such throat cutting plans but register.mtnl.net.in page still shows the ad featuring 49Rs plan.

i dont think its MTNL, but being a government company, such a low rent plan will give scare to big competitors like Airtel, Reliance, Tata.So may be they can try to use their influence, otherwise such a low rate plan (that too on a stable DSL line) will kill their business completely. (which is almost reduced by more than half)MTNL is trying to bring mobile industry type price war. With already such a huge war going in that industry they wud not want to open another front!
