Well dude, I had to pay for 4 GB transfer some 6 months back and authorities blamed for unauthorized access and not switching on/off at 12 and 8am for NU plan.[/b]

dude i don remember exactly what that column was called but u sure remember that there is a column in ur usage details page which shows the tel/some code associated with your tel. no. this can be used to check if ur a/c is being by someone other than u. When i tried to access my friend's a/c my tel (direct or indirectly ...don exactly remember) cud be seen. and that usage cud not be blamed as improper night usage.

@ Sanjeev_KumarJust FYI.... the Remote Web Mgmt option for the modem is not enabled by default. It has to be explicitly checked. Also there is an option to change ur default web port from 80 to something else. So if Remote Mgmt is not enabled or the default WebPort is changed then absolutely no problem if u don't change ur admin password. Also thts why use Bridged mode... no hacking / stealing of passwords :)

yeah its BRAS number but sometimes two BRAS's maybe connected to ur DSLAM...so a login shown from a different BRAS doesnt mean ur account is being misused..anywayz now there is little possibility of misuse..if somebody obtains ur password the maximum he can do is change it at the website creating a hassle for u..ie u'll have to call CC to get it reset but other than that ur safe..@baudhayan remote management doesnt have to be enabled..D-Link modem answers requests on port 80 on WAN side by default which it shouldnt if remote management is disabled

Subject – Misuse of Triband / ADSL.

Tel No. – _____________ User – __________________________________.

Dear Sir,
I applied for MTNL Landline phone with Triband 200P Plan in the month of April 2006. After various follow up I got a connection but the ADSL was not active. After repeated reminders the ADSL got activated.

The phone was purely applied for ADSL purpose, hence we do not make outgoing or receive incoming calls. We have an estimated usage of 150 MB per month hence minimum plan of Triband 200P was applied. The same can be verified from the usage details from the day I have got the connection.

During the first two months we did not have any problem. Later after periodically checking the Session History we came to know there is a heavy usage. Hence after complaining to 1504 & other MTNL officials we were asked to change the password of router & of the MTNL user Id. The same was done. A few weeks the account was regular.

Later again we started facing the problem of triband misuse (illegal usage by someone). Hence we have been regularly complaining about the same to MTNL, but no action or solution was provided. We have even paid bills for unused triband usage, in the context that the telephone line may get disconnected for non-payment of bills.

The ADSL router is connected to my Laptop for personal use. So when there is no laptop there cannot be any access. But I have seen it is misused by someone. I don't have any other computer in my office so the ADSL cannot be used in my room other than me that too from my laptop.

May I request you to look into the matter & adjust all the excess amount paid & give a credit of unused triband (MB’s). Please find out from where and who has an access to my triband account.

Incase of any queries you can contact me on -_________________________.

Thanking you, Yours Faithfully,

I visited MTNL exchange, They showed me the mac id & phone no. It was mine only. But I tried to explain them that I surf & use only net for email nor do I download. They refused to accept. The only solution they gave is disconnect the triband & apply again. That means I have to keep wasting my money & time behind these mtnl lukhas.

guys pls suggest what I should do.

regularly change your password of both modem and ADSL a/c... also u can check in usage history, the different phone no (code no. - it is in delhi - i don't know about mumbai)... plus check usage daily, n whenever u find any discrepancy, change the passwords..thats the only solution

If MAC ID is yours then it is most probably someone else in your office (or maybe your building) who is using the connection. MAC ID is bound to a perticular telephone line. Ths is ID of the port at exchange where your phone line is connected.
