I currently use D-Link DSL 502T modem & Linksys WRT 54G wifi router. The former is outdated & the latter is ver 7 which cannot be dd-wrted so I am stuck & have to buy a new unit most probably a 2 in 1 unit.
Even I too have the same setup, just that mine wifi router is 54G2. So does it mean when MTNL moves to IPV6, they will be replacing current D-Link DSL-502T modem free of cost(FOC)?

After this https://broadband.forum/mtnl-broadband/80680-ip6-compliant-user-owned-cpes/ I doubt whether socrates will come back. He had a lot of info on that score as he had spoken to many of those senior decision makers. A real pity even this thread was started by him & regularly updated. For proper info you will have to ask someone at a very senior level. QCS will not be able to answer or the MTNL aunties :smiley-bounce0:
I saw this info today
'Now apply for MTNL landline, broadband and mobile connection via SMS'

at least they are following the trai guidelines and not applying them on customers who applied for plans in the last six months :|

I was going to upgrade this plan today evening. Then later decided not to do today. Now after seeing this ad, I guess now I will let them do it on their own :D

@chromaniac: True but its very disappointing as the Rs 650/- (in Mumbai) is the cheapest plan for 2mbps speeds. They have v cleverly managed to push customers on to new plans AND make them pay more for 2mbps as other UL plans have a bandwidth squeeze according to time. MTNL is now becoming ‘clever’ like the pvt companies. I had mentioned this ‘cleverness’ on their FB page but as expected there was no reply to ir. I am v disappointed as I would have liked more speed. Milking the customer is the new name of the game, I had mentioned on this forum that their senior staff have also started behaving like the pvt sector blokes ie is if you manage to get past their call center jokers.

Got this one today :)

I got this yesterday and today again.

But what is strange that, the same information they have NOT DECLARED on their website. Atleast I could not find it anywhere.

Additional 60Rs goes out from my pocket, even if I do not want 1mbps.

In other news, MTNL is trying other way too to get more money by giving their offices on rent. As per their website, they have declared more than 300000 (3 lac) sq.ft. space for rent.

More than 3 Lac Sq. Ft. commercial space in MTNL Buildings at strategic locations across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai & Mira-Bhayandar available for lease

Yes I got that a couple of times after posting it here. I dont know about the other plans but the current xpress combo 600 now becoming xpress combo 650 is visible on their site but they are silent that those who have had it for more than 6 months will be migrated to the new plan. I posted on their FB page what I posted here in post #137

I will check tomorrow if my plan is changed automatically!Knowing MTNL they may just forget to upgrade the plan in system but the bill they may send for new plans!
