my pings are good....but download from sites and updates roam around 175~200 kBps...speedtest results ranges from any where between 1.75~1.95 mbps throught out the world......that doesnt necessarily transform into d/l speed...i meant how reliable are speedtest resultsexample from sites like cnet.com it varies from 175~205(just a hit and miss max) kBps is this good????

Speedtest results are quite accurate (it auto-selects the nearest server, as you can see)Are you otherwise having a problem with normal browsing/downloads? Download a torrent (many linux distros are available on torrents to download :curl-lip:), and see what max speed you get once seeds/peers are connected. You should be getting at least 200 kB/s on a 2 Mbps line (2048 kbits/s / 8 = 256 kB/s; 80% of that is about 200 kB/s)

On torrents its all together different story.....never reaches 200kBps..even if best seed to peer ratio......why is this happening when I was on 1mbps plans ....I use to get full speed....on ftp as well as torr. Why do. they restrict speed....do everybody have data rate set at 2048....? Can they increase that....?

well hard to say. if they are indeed throttling torrents i do not see why they would let you get even 200KBps. so i doubt it is something that mtnl is doing.

You wont get anything more than 200kBps given your line rates :|That isnt throttling. Increase the downstream data rate to 2550kbps!

get it increased. you would have to fight it out with mtnl people to increase the line speed of your connection.

do not use the language that would confuse the shit out of him :D

The speeds which I'm getting is normal for everyone or I'm the only one.....?Would they increase data rate....on request....has anyone tried it and suceeded...?
