@santosh66,1. Make sure that your operating system, firewall or the access point (modem) is not blocking IGMP multicast.2. Use a network packet analyzer software (like wireshark) to know what IP addresses and port your STB listens to for various channels.3. Use the above numbers in a VLC playlist.

hi santosh, so do u mean u can see all 150 channels?

In Bangy they have started with only about 60 channels, and they are promising customers that the number will reach 150 soon.Yes, I can see all available channels. But as I have been mentioning, it is practically useless due to noise issues as of now.

You can then watch multiple channels simultaneously and in multiple locations as long as there is enough bandwidth available. Have you tried that?

No, I don't think we can watch multiple channels simultaneously. It uses IGMP protocol to join a multicast stream, but when we request a new channel, their server seems to automatically stop the previous stream to your connection. So, my guess is that it may not be possible even with high bandwidth.

Whoa... I was able to watch 2 different channels by disabling "single instance" options in VLC. But obviously when there isn't enough room for a single channel, multiple channels show almost garbage. Anyways, it goes to show that this IPTV system is too vulnerable:P

Very frankly speaking I did not knew that one can play the channels on vlc media player.Still i remember iol n\w enginneer asking whether i want iptv to be instsalled in comp or tv. rep point added.@santosh.s=>r u able to surf net through tv.=> one more thing depending on the make of ur tv one is expected to enter a 3 digit code as an unlock key to activate certain features like setting favourites ,previous a channel key and et all. So have u entered the key.=>what is the password to enter setting panel

whoa, 2 guys both named santosh having iptv in bangalore! :Dthis is cool. i never knew you could watch all your channels on vlc.

hey things seem to be a little different with iptv here in delhi....to watch a channel via vlc i have to first switch to the same channel on the stb but then there is absolutely no bandwidth left over so on the pc i only get gibberish and broken audio....have any of u gys been able to get clear (or nearly) transmission of any channel on the pc without a tv tuner card??..

@santosh.s
=>r u able to surf net through tv.
yes, but not reliably... I mean it gets slowed down at times if IPTV is active.

=> one more thing depending on the make of ur tv one is expected to enter a 3 digit code as an unlock key to activate certain features like setting favourites ,previous a channel key and et all. So have u entered the key.
Are you talking about programming their remote for the TV? If so, I had done that on the first day itself.

=>what is the password to enter setting panel
No idea.

This is because either your PC is not properly configured for IGMP multicast or else the firewall is blocking IGMP messages (join/leave group etc.). That is why you require the STB to do it for you.

but then there is absolutely no bandwidth left over so on the pc i only get gibberish and broken audio....

So far NO.
I used to think that the problem is due to wifi link (IPTV multicast not tolerating high error rates, not really the "average" bandwidth issue as such). However, to confirm that, today I tried to connect PC through lan (cat5) but I was surprised to see that the problem still persists! When the same lan connector is connected to the STB, reception is far better.

Does that mean I need to modify any n/w settings in the router or PC??? quite possible.

@santosh.s can u please confirm one more thing for me..//go to ur modem settings page under lan select pvc-1 and see which mode is selected... (bridge or pppoe??) .for me its bridge mode so that might mean that the connection which is used to deliver iptv 'needs' to be dialed by the router.... but can v change it to pppoe ??? (ive tried but not been successful)
