How did you measure your speed?
1.By speedtest available on net.....(this gives an total download speed).......try Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
2.I am a torrent downloader so it mentions your download speed...(actual download speed is shown).....hope i was helpful!

I did not ask you the question because I want to know how to test MY broadband speed. I wanted to know how YOU got the figure of 40kbps. Now your answer has made it more confusing. You have mentioned two ways of measuring speed which will give you very different results. a torrent client like utorrent will display speed in kBps(kilobytes per second) while speedtest displays in Mbps (megabits per second)
So which one is it?
If you got the speed you have stated using utorrents then you are getting exactly the speed you paid for. 40kBps x 8 = 320 kbps. Instead of cursing MTNL in every thread, you may have to open your wallet a bit wider and go for a higher speed if you need more.
