Part of that will be the costs of building in Mumbai vs those of building in Delhi. That and Delhi is a much more price sensitive market than Mumbai. Interestingly, MTNL also recently upped the price of the 2mbit/s plan from 3999 to 4999! Ridiculous, eh?

^ That is no more universally true. About a year ago it was. These days, the plans are different but I don't think in all cases Delhi is cheaper than Bombay. Bombay wins out ina few cases for combo and unlimited plans because the CPE is rent free.

Which part is no longer true? Price sensitivity? Hmm. Maybe. We are still finding it to some extent. Anyway, how does Bombay win out if the prices are so significantly different? A CPE costs for... Rs80 a month... 2000 to buy? Overall, pricing is crazy. They have 2 1mbit/s plans, 3 2mbit/s plans, 3 4mbit/s plans. Hmm. I suppose it depends on the plan. But on higher plans, probably not worth it.

^^ hey mgcarley: Is the utopic panacea Hayai operational?! LOL..

We are neither utopic nor a panacea. And best estimate right now is mid-late October.

@mgcarley - Sorry when I responded it was to the OP. My screen had not been refreshed so I did not know you had posted before me.Coming to your post, you may be right about the cause but my own opinion is that pricing has little to do with cost and more with how much your target is willing to pay. Bombay price is lower for some unlimited plans because it includes the rental for the CPE. AFAIK Delhi does not have the 395 unlimited and 495 combo plans at that price.
