MTNL totally unprofessional

Well to say that MTNL guys are totally unprofessional is an understatement. The internet plan has 590 Nighttime unlimited. However there is a small disclaimer in the end of the page saying that the plan has been discontinued. I overlooked this fact and asked for 590 Night time unlimited. The MTNL karamchari looked at my application and said it will be done. He did not tell me that 590 NU has been discontinued and in the next 48 hours I found me being a part of 840 NU unlimited.


Hey Arun, when exactly was your connection activated? I had applied for the connection about 3 months ago and had opted for the 549NU plan. My connection got activated this Sunday 16th Sept. I got a call from them about a week ago saying that 549NU plan was discontinued and that I'll have to choose something else. When I asked him about any other NU plan, he said that they don't have any NU plans now. I asked him about this NU849 plan and he said they don't have it anymore. On asking why, he said they wanted to earn profit so they discontinued. I had to opt for the 599 plan.

Now you are telling us that they gave you the NU849 plan without even asking you??????? This clearly displays the unprofessionalism by MTNL.
Someone needing it, doesn't get it. And someone who doesn't need it, gets it.


I guess I'll have to change it before the next bill cycle.

849NU is still there and I think its always been there since it was launched.

When i applied almost 3 months ago the Aunty at the exchange said "aisa koi plan nahi"
Infact it was there and she did not see it in the drop down list.Then when i showed her i got the plan......................but the buggers did not bump me up from 256 to 2mbps for almost2 weeks

Man they suck big time. If only we had any better options. But thats not the case in Borivali. The local cable guy (Ganesh Naidu, head of cable operator's association in Mumbai) isnt allowing others to settle in. He drove off Tata Indicom people cos they were a serious threat to his business of cable tv & broadband. So i guess we are stuck to the best of the worst!

The plans may be a little better. The inconsistent and unprofessional customer support by MTNL guys kinda negates the advantage. If you have some spare time and patience to run behind these guys, MTNL will work out great.

^^ exactly... once everything is in place... nothing can beat MTNL...

TATA Indicom is similar.. you need to run around them to keep your connection working.With MTNL, support is horrible, but connection is stable if your phone like is okay.
