MTNL Triband
Dear All, I have got MTNL triband connection recently. I also have a Linksys router WSG54G. The problem iam facing is that when I connect my laptop directly to the modem as provided by MTNL the internet works and if i plug in the router inside, it says Router cannot connect to the internet. My MTNL modem is running on PPPoE settings. Now shud i configure my modem on DHCP or PPPoE? Please provide your inputs. regards/sudhir

Welcome to Broadbandforum.in
if i plug in the router inside, it says Router cannot connect to the internet.
1.Presume you connected RJ45 cable from MTNL modem ( Make ?) to router WSG54G.
2.Presume you want to use a laptop /or desk top in wireless mode.
3. Enable DHCP in modem.
4. see thread
https://broadband.forum/mtnl-triband-broadband/21452-mtnl-does-not-work-netgear-router-modem/
for similar problem.
5. references :D-Link Support
Dlink Settings for Broadband
select your model from left side of menu bottom.

DHCP is best if you wanna use wireless... I used the DLS502T (provided by MTNL) along with my Linksys WRT54G very successfully..make sure to plug in Linksys first to the PC (when MTNL isn't connected), and change it's IP from 192.168.1.1 to whatever ex: 192.168.0.1..This is just in case your MTNL modem's IP is also 192.168.1.1...Rest all should be a cakewalk.. :)Cheers..~Praj

I had same problem. I talked with mtnl guy.The problem is when you connect your first modem the mtnl system detect it's mac address and store it.When you try to connect other modem it will lock your internet. So to use another modem you need to go to exchange and tell him to unlock another modem.

The problem is when you connect your first modem the mtnl system detect it's mac address and store it.

When you try to connect other modem it will lock your internet.

So to use another modem you need to go to exchange and tell him to unlock another modem.

Are you sure about this? Which exchange are on. I connect my laptop sometimes directly to my D-Link DSL 502T modem and I have faced no problems. I am on Prabhadevi exchange.

@sudhiraikido From your post i presume you cannot connect via WiFi, check that both your laptop & WiFi router have the same SSID,
Whether your anti virus or firewall is creating a problem.

Since its a Linksys WiFi router check out this url for setting up Linksys WRT54G Socrates?s experience: How to configure Linksys WRT54G wireless router there may be some commonality in the setting up. Hope it helps. :) :hysterical::hysterical: This is an old post :hysterical:
