Family members of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose have sought the help of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for declassification of all secret files concerning the iconic leader."Netaji belonged to the entire nation, so we extend our appeal to you for your kind support in demanding from the Prime Minister that the Central Government must release in public domain all records to help unravel the mystery about his fate and bring a closure to the issue," read the letter written to Narendra Modi .
Demanding declassification of secret files concerning Netaji's death, Netaji's grand-nephew and family spokesperson Chandra Bose had met Modi during his visit to Kolkata last week.

Some agreement may have surely happened between Congress and British govt, due to which Netaji's death details are not published, and kept as mystery.
Besides Bose was member of congress earlier, but later quit to start armed struggle. India would have been different country if Netaji would have become PM of independent India
(But Nehru perhaps didnt want that to happen).

I have read long back about Mauni Baba in times of India I guess he was Netaji... and I can understand why our government can not release those classified documents about him.

I suppose this excuse works as well as cannot tell because national security...

Last year, when Delhi-based RTI activist Subhash Agarwal appealed to the PMO to disclose records relating to Netaji it had had refused arguing that the "disclosure would prejudicially affect relation with foreign countries".
"There are no mentions in Manual of Office Procedure or Public Records Rules, 1997, regarding any discretionary power vested in PM to de-classify records," the PMO said.
