What is the distance between your ONT and the router? If it's more than 80 to 90 meters, you won't get 100 Mbps even if you are provisioned for that speed. There will be a degradation.

Your router issue is mystifying though. With that D-Link, you should be able to get at least 90% of the speed that you are seeing with a wired connection. Check if there is channel interference with a wifi analyzer app. Choose a channel that's well away from whatever your neighbors are using and away from cordless phones. Avoid "auto" settings on the router.

@Zaphod

Hey! Thinking of getting a gigabit router. How's the R6220 holding up? I'm guessing the 5Ghz range isn't that great? Does it actually give the full 100 over LAN? Any other newer models you'd recommend?

@Jay Mine works well. I do get 100 Mbps on LAN. 80 to 90 Mbps on the 5 GHz at a distance of upto 10 feet. About 65 Mbps at 20 feet. The lowest anywhere in my house is 50 Mbps. But it's virtually impossible to predict how a router will perform in a certain environment. A lot depends on the positioning and interference. You should not have an issue if you place it in a central place and avoid channels that are being used by other routers in your immediate neighborhood. It's now available on Amazon for 1000 less than what I paid, so it's pretty good value.
