@imdarkray but can we opt for the base plan with black? I thought that's locked in. That is what I was told. For any mods we had to change to another plan OR unbundle the services back to individual ones. Let me give it a try. Also i have added just 2 HD channels over and above the Black fixed pack. Let me see how this works out.

And yeah, sad news, my PC that worked as a pfSense router died, motherboard failure. Now I am on the verge of buying a new Netgate or Protectli appliance to run pfsense. Currently running my old trustworthy Asus AC wifi router in dual WAN mode set to load balance.

Off topic :- Anyone with more than a year with Airtel Black, need confirmation on Disney Hotstar, will it expire too like prime after - 1st year.

Yes the Disney channel subs expires after a year. I have two overlapping ones now - one from Airtel and the other personal. Airtel expires in about 2 weeks with no option to extend it. Not that I care coz my personal subs will continue it. The only subs that offers options is Netflix

Airtel Black plans starts with 699/- minimum in my region, not sure if any lower plans available.

Airtel now is providing Netflix- Basic with 300Mbps plans in LCO cities as well.

Wondering why no one is taking the initiative to introduce beyond 1gbps plans? The current plans are kinda outdated since 4 years now.

Beyond 1G residential plans are kinda pointless imo and I don't think Airtel or any other ISP would be able to justify the price(their 1G plans are also overpriced imo). TPF, Airtel and Jio struggle to deliver 1G with their current infra to end customers, forget about more than 1G.
Even if they roll out a 2.5G plan, it would be crazy expensive and if someone needs that kind of speed they might consider ILL as well.
Also single threaded speeds won't be close to the advertised speeds which is an existing problem with their 1G plans as well. One needs to do multithreaded downloads in order to max out the plan speed.

Please try to understand how the system works. In order to provide multi-gigabit plans and to keep up to it, Airtel, Tata, Excitel, ACT, NET+ and other famous ISPs have to invest in buying XGS-PON OLTs. Those costs a lot. And to keep up with speeds, they'll have to invest even more in increasing the capacity of their BNGs.
In my opinion, Airtel to keep itself away from being bankrupt, relied on LCO Model in Tier-2 and Tier-3 Cities.

Again, my opinion, might not be true, but multi-gigabit plans are not being introduced because Wi-Fi 6 and higher tech is costly and not everyone is going to keep plugged in Ethernet all the time. With multi-gigabit plans, there are a lot of challenges.

Jio already has 10G-PON Tech and they have money, they will only have to get their stupid sercomm ONT changed to 2.5G ONT. I bet you Jio would be the first ISP in India to introduce multi-gig plans.

Also Airtel and Jio both are trying to find a way to get into Indian houses with their shitty AirFiber. And TBH, there is no demand for multi-gigabit plans.
