MTNL Mumbai New BB UL Plans W.e.f. 13/04/2016

I have noticed sluggish browsing when upload speed was 512 kbps compared to 2 mbps it was before.

My only contention is that once u opt for a plan means its an agreement between the ISP & customer (correct me if I was wrong) & should not be changed once the plan is considered old & not offered, it should stay frozen UNLESS the customer changes his plan

@socrates Your point is absolutely correct. This is the first time when MTNL has reduced speeds even for old and new plans. Bad move.

Hey Guys,

I finally upgraded my connection to 16Mbps(earlier plan being 8mbps)...Its little sad that I am getting only 13-14 Mbps..CAn I ask server guys to increase my profile or something..Please find the below screenshot for modem stats and speed tests.




SNR has taken a big blow reduced from 27dB to 6-7dB
Attenaution is good for time being(same as before)
Power is negative for upstream..any idea what that means
Max data rate is 20696 Kbps

Speed test ( a Lil less than what i expected )

Ping has increased form 10ms to 23ms



Should I be happy with these stats or should I try to increase my line profile...Please advise...

If you get 80% or more of your promised speed your complaints may not be entertained, also if your SNR goes below 10 there is always a chance of disconnections

.But Now I am getting 11-12 Mbps :'(
..Speed is quite unstable..It has not crossed even 15 Mbps...
Have to sync it to say 14.5-15.5 Mbps...which can be done If i request them to increase my line profile(Correct me if am wrong)
I just stay at about 200-400 m close to exhange...If i could get a synced up speed of 15-15.5Mbps..I will be more than happy..
I am willing to take the Risk..
@Existing 16Mbps users,Please do lemme know if i can ask for a line profile increase..speeds are quite unstable

I managed to get my sync rates up

These line stats are pure madness. I stay more than 1 km away from Prabhadevi tel exchange.

This is literally pushing line and ADSL modem to their limits. Cannot get more idiotic than this.

Speedtest is good now. 16 Mbps steady after initial burst of 20 Mbps. TP-Link TD-8816 is one heck of a modem! Best ever.

Hi Everyone,

I am getting 10 Mbps on 16 Mbps Plan..I got really frustrated and called 12540 and that guy siad he wont offer a Line profile Increase...CAn anyone in this forum please let me knw contact for getting high speeds...I m really fed up ..Btw My line is extremely good...I had no disconnects..Not sure why tht guy is not increasing Line profile..If I keep it at 19-20 MB I'll atleast get 14-15 Mbps constant speed...
