I will never use reliance. I bought but they said its not feasible. I waited for refund for almost 1 month and i got it after around 3 months! No one was responsible enough to give proper reply as well. I have a bad impression of all ADAG businesses.

I WILL try it

but the thing about reliance logging out is that if you put downloads and go out, they just log you out

i leave my reliance connection for 16-17 hours and i download and it does NOT log me off even once .. u only get logged off after u have crossed 24 hours at one stretch and u need to re login then ..

can you tell me more about your plan, upload speed, service, etc?

also can you make the connection multi-user

hi im in the 1mpbs unlimited at day and 2mbps unlimited at night plan for rs 1600 ( i think they call it 1mpbs X Night booster something like that ) .. i get speeds of about 220 - 240 kbps in the night while uploading and downloading ( since the speed becomes 2mbps from 10pm to 8am ) and about 115-120kbps download/upload during day time since speed is 1mbps ..

reliance customer service sucks .. they dont know half the times what they are talking themselves .. they have very little downtime so im happy with that ... speeds are consistent throughout as per the plan they offer .. they arent like other ISPs who will reduce your speed if u download too much ( i have personally never ever had speed issues with reliance and thank god for that lol )

i dont know about the multi user thing .. the customer service may beable to help you with that ..

whenever i ask them about the multi-user thing they say their sales agent will tell me about it and he says the engineer will tell me when they come for installation

don't you have a different customer support than for new consumers, can you please ask and tell me?

Might I suggest that either:

[*]They are discouraged to tell people they can set up the connection for multiple users
[*]They are discouraged to tell people how to set up the connection for multiple users
[*]They have no idea how to do it
[/list]
The main reason I say this is because by law ISPs are supposed to know the identities of everyone on the network. All in the name of terrorism and so forth but in my eyes it's just paranoia... not entirely unjustified, mind you, but a pain.

[Slight rant coming up, I apologize, feel free to ignore]
Unlike most of Europe, India does have some neighbours that do concern the world-community at large, but for the most part, considering most users in India are Indians and most Indians seem to like their country, the efforts (and money) spent on trying to restrict the 0.001% of people who might cause problems from causing problems in the first place, from my POV I'd say that the efforts are just badly focused.

Possibly what might be of concern wrt security might be fear of revolution - How will we [the government] control the people if they manage to get all this access to information? I know! Let's make accessing the medium as slow, inconvenient and expensive as possible, so that only 0.8% of the country can even think of affording it! And for those that can afford it, let's make sure we censor it as much as possible!

It's not just the net either, but it's always the same, and has been throughout history. Control access to information and you control the people by controlling their thoughts. You can't control the Indian population by force anymore... you know... democracy and modernization and all... us silly Westerners don't like it very much :D

Actually, I think Reliance has been a little blind on the multiuser issue. My Reliance connection is quite good on the speed, reliability and cost aspects. It doesn't logout until 24 hours if there is some traffic happening, and a curl script I have promptly connects back within a few minutes even after the 24 hours.Even on the multiuser front, the only trouble is that my ADSL router doesn't get an IP once or twice a month for a couple of hours, at which time I need to connect direct from the PC in dynamic IP mode. Other than that, multiuser is not an issue, and I can even authenticate from my mobile phone's browser without trouble. Of course the CSEs are completely clueless about routers and multiuser - they are trained to say 'we don't support routers'.Just get this once-in-a-month issue sorted, and Reliance would be the best. Sadly, the management of Reliance is insensitive to realize this, despite my own escalation of this issue several times.

yeah the CSE don't know anything about this thats why i am trying to get this known by consumers

some have said that they can't use in on multiple devices

can you tell if we can connect a wifi route to the reliance connection and whether you have used multiple device?

also when you use it on defifferent devices,do you have to login on both of them and how can that be if one login locks the mac address?

and what do i do when i connect the net to my PS3,what kind of login will i do then

In theory yes, but the CSEs are not supposed to advise how because of this document: Powered by Google Docs

See sections I.a.iv, I.d.iv, I.d.v.

In general, what I said in an earlier post is technically feasible but potentially not 100% "legal", assuming all this is actually legislated and not simply a directive.
