of course it is a matter of milliseconds. but looking at the growing number of internet users in india, it would be great to have to manage a server locally. and even collaborate with the ISPs in india to handle dns services for them. we all know how reliable mtnl and bsnl are when it comes to DNS. :)

Anyone having problems with OpenDNS today between 1846 & 1930 hrs? :O. Lots of packet drops. Could not access this site & Facebook + others in that period. OpenDNS site says everything is OK.

oh was it opendns? :D i was having problems opening sites, i thought there must be problem with MTNL. but since i wasnt doing anything important, i just didnt go in depth to find the cause.

Yes it was OpenDNS, when I pinged their server I was getting 'timed out' & MTNL was ok :O. Maybe their new locations in Europe are having 'teething trouble'. :)

I also see this today when I log into OpenDNS

I wonder if this could be another reason. :( . Even though my machine is clean :)

Hi,I need to setup OpenDNS but could not find an option in the Beetel 110TC1 to set it. Any ideas anybody?

if you want to setup open dns in the router then you need to locate the dns from ISP option and manually change it to the open dns servers.... or you can always put the open dns servers in your own computer network properties. If you want more detailed help with the modem firmware ,, then kindly post some SS for us to guide you better.:urock:

At the moment, my modem is in pppoe mode so its dials to the internet by itself. The modem is connected to my wifi router(wrt54g).

I have set my wifi router's DNS to opendns and so when I am connected on my laptop via wifi, welcome.opendns.com shows me connected via opendns. But, if i directly connect the modem to my laptop, as expected the welcome.opendns.com says that my opendns is not configured.

So, as per my configuration my modem DNS are set to airtel DNS, but my wifi DNS is set to opendns..... will this configuration still be effective for me or somehow i need to change the DNS of my modem too?
