Since elections are coming and I wanted to get some name registered for voting card.

I contacted 1290 (toll free number) for info abt election

they gave me site address for online registration:

Phishing Site Blocked

but when I try to access, OpenDNS blocks it saying that its a phishing site.

Searching on google (google also warns abt bad sites) however does not seem to report it as phishing site.

Can anyone else confirm? Is site infected by some malware?

Wow, even forum's automatic title addition for URL feature thinks that its Phishing site. :D May be forum uses OpenDNS too.

@Amish. I was the one who reported that site as Phishing page. Previously, it used to make users download viruses on to their computer.I was one of its victim. Now, they have cleaned it. Will re-report it to Opendns people.

Airtel DNS has no such feature so it wont detect it as phishing anyway.@krish: if site has virus, its not called phishing site, its malware infected site. i dont know how opendns put it in phishing category.

this site does not even load here at the moment. but it is pretty common for legit sites to get hacked. and that is the reason phishing protection is good.

Got this in the newsletter today.

It's official, the much discussed and anticipated OpenDNS Amsterdam datacenter is up and running. Since OpenDNS is anycasted, the new datacenters mean faster DNS resolution for those OpenDNS users in Europe.

Check out OpenDNS Founder David Ulevitch's blog post (http://blog.opendns.com/2009/08/31/opendns-amsterdam/) about the deployment. Hint for the techies: There are lots more pictures.

Next up — Asia. Then one more in Europe and maybe, just maybe, we'll figure out how to get some gear in Australia and India. Stay tuned for details

Maybe that is why my latency has reduced from 250-269 ms to currently 142-146 ms. :) There is also a new OpenDNS Updater 2.0 for Windows available.

OpenDNS in India wudnt be much improvement because DNS lookups dont take much time. So max u will save is few miliseconds. So if site loads (including all images etc) in say 10 seconds, overall it will load in abt 8-9 seconds with OpenDNS, that too first page only. Other pages will load with no additional delay. And if u r efficient user of tabs i.e. viewing other tabs while requested page loads, u wud hardly save even single second.
