ok. can anyone tell me how can i i prevent opendns from stealing my auto searches on firefox address bar?instead of running google (i am feeling lucky) it shows me the search page on opendns. which sucks.

that means firefox autosearch isnt working and it is passing the addressbar string onto dns lookup... i guessWAIT A MINUTE! aren't you an opera fanboi??? :P

u need to disable shortcuts feature on opendns. which means u need to create a/c and map it to ur IP which can be static or dynamic. for dynamic u will have to run script everytime ur IP changes. see opendns help

Hi, I am using Linksys ADSL AM300 modem to connect to BSNL Dataone. I want to use OpenDNS for DNS Servers. I tried the method described on OpenDNS website and changed all the settings as follows:
[*]Select Control Panel from the Start menu.
[*]Click Network Connections from the Control Panel choices.
[*]Choose your connection from the Network Connections window.
[*]Click Properties button.
[*]Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
[*]Click the radio button Use the following DNS server addresses and type in OpenDNS addresses in the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server fields.
[/list]I typed

208.67.222.222 (Preferred DNS server)
208.67.220.220 (Alternate DNS)

Still when I log into OpenDNS Account I get error Your current IP is 117.194.65.89, but it's not using OpenDNS.

following are ipconfig details:

it can affect torrent downloads if you enable the website filtering (phishing, porn etc). some torrent sites get blocked due to being flagged as malicious/dirty and that can affect your torrents even if they're not porn/malware torrents :P

^^ Use DynDNS or DNS-o-Matic. Both are good and free. DNS-o-Matic is from OpenDNS team and it can update multiple clients with your changed ip.
