thank you for the reply :) sorry if this question sounds silly, but what happens when I refund the amount to the sender?

he gets it back , you can arrange another payment method then , but all payment portals on net will need a cc , like moneybrokers, alertpay to verify the a/c like payapl, or he can just directly send it to your bank , most banks have swift and international transfers too now

thanks:) now i have a more clearer idea of how it works. I'll talk to the sender and see if he can send the money to my bank account. It would have been great if i could have a CC but the fear of it being misused prevents me from getting one :scare:

Hey I just now found an email from paypal saying my bank account has been added. what does this mean? I can now receive payment and shop online? :-)

^^ You may transfer payment from PP to your bank account (they still do not support the other way i.e. bank to PP funds transfers though). Online shopping using PP is also not available for us Indians (that was how it was the last time I checked; do not know whether the rules have changed now).

@133t Paypal accounts can be verified by using Indian Bank Accounts.
You dont need credit cards to verfiy it.This change of rule has been in place for more than a year now.
The recent changes in paypal mean that you need a credit card to buy/shop or send money.

Ok, let me clear this up!You can verify your PayPal with a bank account, check their website to see if your bank is supported.By getting verified, you get more benefits and less limitation chances. You need to add a CC (For Indians) to transfer funds from your account to any.

After verification with my back account, can I

1/receive payments from others
2/transfer funds from bank a/c to paypal a/c
3/shop online

thank you :-)

1)Yes, you can recieve payments without verification also.
2)No, you can't, Only CC can do that.
3)No, you need CC for that.

The main aim of adding bank is to transfer funds from PP to bank.

thanks :) sachin. My account is now verified. Why can't I shop online? :/

Paypal rules and policies vary from country to country to comply with the laws. As per RBI regulation you cannot use the money you receive in Paypal to make payments. You have to compulsorily withdraw it to your bank account. If you do not withdraw Paypal will send it to your bank account within seven days.

I do not know why Indian bank accounts are not allowed to fund Paypal. You need a credit card to make payments via Paypal. If you are not eligible to get a credit card you can get it by opening a bank deposit as security. I think SBI, Axis bank, Vijaya bank provides such credit cards....you can also check with your bank.

By the way, domestic payments is also not allowed by Paypal. You can only pay for merchants outside India.

heh yeah. paypal is pretty much useless for payments these days. i am however able to pay international customers through credit card using paypal.
