PCI Express extension ?

My mobo Intel Q963 doesnt have a pci-e slot but the specs say that

Extension Capabilities : One PCI Express* x16 bus add-in card connector

so what exactly is this ? some sort of card which will provide pci-e interface ?

hi,il have a querry. i want to have two display monitors on my 845 mobo. presently i have only one vga port. i think the mobo doesnt support a agp slot. will a pci display card be adequate for the purpose. i just need to connect two displays where the display extends across two monitors.i read that xp supports this facility. thanks

They are basically higher bandwidth slots than the conventional PCI slots.@algae: it should work, you need a PCI graphics card with two video out slots on them (VGA mostly), since all newer models are PCIe and majority in the past were all AGP getting a decently performing PCI card will be hard, but if all you need is windows displaying on two monitors then it should be ok.

thanks for the info. Today, i asked a few vendors about a PCI graphics card with two video out- they hadnt heard of it-DUHH!!! they me asked for the make and model. Double duhh.
can u help? and any idea about its approx cost-just for me to sound knowledgeable.

^ PCI gcards are rare these days . Are you sure you dont even have a AGP or pci-e slot on your motherboard ? This is very new chipset and its a sin for it to not have pci-e ( or AGP ) . No black coloured slot in mobo ??

^^ Gigabit ethernet cards . There are also some T1,E1 cards which run happily on pci-e slots .. hardly anyone use them in India though .

I don't know what T1, E1 are, but considering that most mobos have ethernet built in these days, the 1x PCI-e slot is basically a waste to most people then?

Yup , i had to put the 8400 in my other CPU which had a pci-e slot
