Yeah yeah I know many threads exist already. My mom wants to replace her old Nokia phone. Her requirements are:Video conferencing via Skype/Tango Using the following:SBI Mobile appICICI mobile appAirtel mobile appWhatsApp Calling and texting. I guess only Android phones apply cause of the app restrictions, not sure though. Screen size should not exceed 4.7And budget is 16K ish. Also Indian brands are a last resort.Any ideas? Cause we want to buy in the Diwali sales by FK and others. And oh yes I'll be rooting it after warranty goes and updates stop.

It is 14.9k now but many times during the day it goes down to 13.5k , Probably the price drop on Amazon will only last till today because its done in response to flipkart sale which ends today .

okayish, number of users is much less than Samsung/HTC but because of Sony's dev friendly policies, development is easy, you'll for example get CM readily available for almost all decently selling Sony phones.

Flashing, both rom and kernel. There are many one click options to choose from, but I don't trust these scripts. Right and they are currently beta testing an app solution that automates the process right?

This one is by Koushik Datta who created CWM so its a reliable app. Basically automates the process of finding the relevant zip for your phone, copying it on the phone and then flashing it.
@OP - You can also consider Xperia C. Available for 17.5k on eBay. Has a 5" screen.

Snapdragon 400 and a big a** battery? I'm more or less sold! Only question: is the 0.3mp front cam good enough?
