I dont think this will take shape as it should .. and even if does .. the cost of each channel would be high .. i dont think TRAI has mentioned anything about the upper limit of cost of each channel .. Bloody Red Tape ..

from what i see you cannot get a card from a new DTH player until you buy the STB from them. connections are sold WITH stbs in india.

i do remember zee doing something about it. offering some device that can be used to connect with other company's STBs. not sure.

but overall, i do not think any of the players in the market have opted to provide interoperable STBs in the market. or supporting third party STBs with their own service.

The days of pushing the STB may be nearing their end. The new high end models of LED TVs are having STB facility inside, so we will just need the view card. It will be the same as in telephone (get a phone from anywhere and plug the cable in). Im not sure how open the common framework for this is

Why a max. price of Rs.5 for each channel is not given like cas? These are same channels on cable and dth, how price can be different
