Ping Problem

Hi,Recently I was having a 256kbps connection.However since i upgraded to 512kbps,My PING to an indian cod4 server has increased.Earlier i used to get 40-50PING,but now I am getting 130+Ping..The Server is located only 170KM far.Can anyone suggest me anything to overcome this issue? OpenDNS only gives more higher latency.Any thing I can do to reduce this issue?

if you remember the DNS server used when you were on the 256k connection , then use that..
