Independent Lok Sabha MP Vishal Patil Extends Support To Congress In Maharashtra

Independent Lok Sabha member from Maharashtra Vishal Patil on Thursday met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge here and extended support to the party.

Vishal Patil was rebel candidate from Congress. ShivSena UBT declared candidate for Sangli seat even though Congress wanted that seat. So Vishal Patil contested as independent candidate, but local Congress workers openly campaigned for him, and he won.

Vishal Patil is grandson of former CM Vasant Dada Patil, under whose rule ShivSena was established and grew. It was rumored he supported growth of ShivSena to weaken Communist parties in Mumbai. So other opposition parties Jan Sangh (old name of BJP) teased ShivSena as Vasant Sena.
