You can buy data at any time which is valid for the next one year. So as long as you pay your rental, you can buy data as much as you want(and can use in the next one year) from 1 gb to 1000 gb, APART from the 550 Rs. monthly.

...if I'm entirely correct here then people can also do like spend lot of money and buy lot of data at once, and then no worries for 1 year(for fairly consistent usage.)

I was looking from the perspective of:
Monthly BB budget Rs 1000 -- Bill cap set to Rs 1000(approx 50GB)
28th - 50GB runs out

possible choices:
1)buy 2-3GB more -- you cross your budget(the amount would be small, but would grow gradually over the months)
2) No net for these few days
3)Slow speed net- enough for browsing and checking mail

True, but we all know that if the slow-speed net happened, it wouldn't be "enough for browsing and checking mail" - people would just leave the downloads running anyway - it would turn in to an unlimited plan with FUP, and users wouldn't take 28 days to use it - it would fall to 20, then 14, then perhaps even 7 or less - and then look, we've just become another shoddy 256k provider.

Yes.. Agree that people can buy 10 GB for say Rs.100 & manage for the 5 days with the "basic" usage they intend to do with 256 kbps for the remaining 5 days. People should start mapping to mobile usage & then they will start feeling more comfortable with Hayai's data plans

Also if you use only 6-7 GB, you would still have 3-4 GB + the approx 50 GB for next month as well

Yes - if the data is prepaid. If the bill limit facility is enabled, then all we do is send out the bill for the used data (if you hit the limit, it would be whatever that was set to, if you didn't hit the limit, it would be just for the amount you used).

256 kbps will not be provided under any circumstances.

No. The minimum bill limit is Rs560 - that's infrastructure + 1GB. If you set it to Rs1,000, the billable amount will just add up in 50 paise increments (about 50MB) until it reaches Rs1,000. If you don't use it all, you won't be billed for it.

If you buy data in a prepaid amount, that is added to your account and data is subtracted until it's gone.

downloading,torrents,u tube cant take u to that much(500GB),
hd streaming,continuous seeding,running a hidden server might take u close but seeing the present 'speed' scenario this are highly unlikely too.

And by the way which cmpny provides such a plan?
BSNL might be a choice but their truly unlimited plans are on the bottom end as per speeds are considered.

I personally found it difficult to maintain this level of downloading after a few months even on a flat-rate ADSL2+ running at 20mbit/s (later cable @ 100mbit/s), because I just couldn't consume the media. I'm sure if Blu-Ray had been more widely available at the time it might have been possible, but realistically, anyone who downloads Blu-Ray over DVD9 and doesn't have the hardware to play it on (a nice big 1080p TV) is basically wasting bandwidth.

That's the troubling thing. 500GB would require 2mbit/s, flat out 24x7 almost every day. Not many companies are offering this at all, especially not flat-rate, so who is claiming to get these speeds on an unlimited basis really?

MTNL are, but it's not exactly cheap - in Delhi it's 3999+tax (roughly the same as our 25mbit/s plan - and our recommendation for this plan is somewhere in the vicinity of 500GB), and in Mumbai it's something horrendously more expensive.

There has to be certain limitation on how much one can download.. But the BS like airtel is providing of 30-40GB is not acceptable ..100GB for the current Rs. 1699 plan is acceptable .. Bill is almost Rs.1800 including taxes.. tht is very expensive, so 100GB is not much..For me if I can get speed around 8Mbps with usage of around 300GB and costs no more than Rs.2500 .. it will work for me...

Yes i meant Allahabad, if Hayai is coming here I am sure people are going to give a very warm welcome, Reliance wireless broadband is picking up very fast here as people are already scared of BSNL here,
