Well, I consume most of my data through online gaming, so low pings is all that matters to me... I currently get 50ms even on Mumbai servers :/. If Hayai can reduce that, then I'm going for them surely!

30ms of that will be due to ADSL and interleaving (error correction). We've had pings between 1 and 4ms to some other networks. I must say, for an MTNL line, you have surprisingly good results. You must be living in a new-ish complex?

Btw my budget is 1000Rs. IIRC I'll get 45GB in that? If it's around that I'm very well satisfied.

I think so, yes. I seem to remember that we have a PoP (point of presence) available in somewhere in Goregaon, but I doubt I could point to it on a map.

It's a map of the planned coverage area, so not accurate at all. When the area is shaded green then we will know servicable locations in more detail.

Hi MGCWell if i buy a post paid connection and set the limit at 1550.I guess it gives me approx 100gb of download.Right.Now i know of i use less than that i would only pay for whatever i use.Now if i hit the 100gb limit can i just go to my account and raise the limit by say rs 100 and use another 10 gb for the month,which will be reflected in my bill for that month and again for the next month the limit is set at 1550.Or do i have to do something else?I thought you said Delhi and Kolkata will be at the same time?How long before your documents arrive?

How long before your documents arrive?

You don't have to change the bill limit, you can simply buy more data, and the amount bought will be deducted from your counted usage for the said month.
For example, if you have set the limit to 100 GB and you reach the limit, you can simply recharge your account with 10 gb and the usage will show 90 GB of 100 GB (as opposed to 100 out of 110 as you were anticipating.) So basically if you exhaust your limit and buy 100 GB data then your effective usage of that month will be zero. this helps the staff of Hayai to avoid having to reset the limit to the original amount (Rs 1550) every month. (And users will start complaining that the system changes their bill limit every month, and now they have no idea what their true limit is.)

And no, we wouldn't do an Airtel and suddenly start having FUP of like 10GB.

i have no doubt that even if Hayai do come out with FUP it would be set at a logical value that max users would have no prob with(including me). The only thing that bugs me is that by the time Hayai might come to Calcutta I might have gone elsewhere or out of the country

You can raise and lower your bill limit at any time, but it will not allow you to go to less than you've already used for the current month. The system will keep the bill limit at whatever you've set it until such time as you change it.

That's not entirely accurate - because the two types of data plans are on different payment basis' - that is, prepaid/postpaid. If you added cash to your account, it would only subtract from what you owe on the end of month invoice, so if you did that, it would be like:

Usage: 100GB @ 9.066/GB

Subtotal: Rs1405.23
Service Tax @ 10.3%: 144.77

Total: Rs 1550

Payments applied: -- Rs100

10mbit/s isn't 2499 anymore. Prices changed, we introduced 5mbit/s (again) but at a lower price and 10mbit/s came down only to (2999) instead of what it was before (3499). Soon, 10mbit/s might take the 5mbit/s place and 25mbit/s might take 10mbit/s place and all that but... let's get it actually up and online first, shall we? We'll tweak it all afterwards.

I'm not anticipating that it will take too much longer. I'm very much hoping that my physical presence in India for a few weeks may be able to help some things along.
