^ I have something to help, 3040 doesn't work with prithvi modem.
I Got a iball baton 3g+ wireless and router off snapdeal last week after a lot of considerations and recommendations from various anonymous forum friends.
It costed about 2k.
Works with both my modems, with/without an extension cable (prithvi ue 100 and ZTE mts 2766).
Sometimes it fails to connect and the USB led never goes on, however rebooting the router from the Web page solves it.
Haven't had issues though,
I use a small 0.5m cable with prithvi ue 100, n a longer came for mts unlocked device.
Whichever extension cable works on pc works here too.
Range is decent, speeds are exactly the same as using a laptop on the same spot.
I'll make a detailed post one I'm back home, in my native for a festival.
P.s. I find slightly better speeds on mts modem and lesser heat while using with the router.
Prithvi goes burning hot after used for sometime, wheras mts stays way cooler when compared.
Modem doesn't heat up too..
In comparison with issues of TP-Link routers posted on various forums (not Connecting, not working with extension cable, not compatible with modems, speed loss on wifi etc) my personal experience with iball for has been extremely satisfying ..

Thanks for your answer. I was in hurry so I already ordered a MR3220 today morning @ 1.3k from ebay.
I'm thinking about replacing the data card as well.
Will replacing the data card help getting better speed/signal? i get 3 bars of signal with UE100 as shown on BSNL connection manager dashboard. signal strenghth remains at -84dbm.

Got MR3220 delivered today.
here's my experience:
TP-Link MR3220 with Prithvi UE100 (with 75cm USB extension cable) : Doesn't work
TP link MR3220 with Prithvi UE100 (without extension cable) : Got detected easily, no disconnections or anything. Works fine (speed is slow, since i can't move my data card to find the best spot for max speeds)
TP link MR3220 with Huawei E169 (With 75cm USB extension cable) : Got detected easily, working fine with extension cable.

How you had configured Prithvi UE100 to get working on TP link MR3220
I had bought this router but it just identifies the modem but doesn't shows the signal bars and doesn't connect.
Please help.
Thank you.

Use quick setup wizard to config your UE100. use #777 number and enter Username and password provided by BSNL. leave CHAP/PAP to auto and finish setup. Nothing else was required to do in my case. just Don't use USB extension cable with UE100.

Spend 4 Hours at BSNL office today.
Tried with both modems Prithvi UE100 and ZTE it identifies but no signals.direct connection to router Do you get signals percentage in router?
Thank you.

yes i do, shows around 66% with UE 100
i haven't tried ZTE AC2766.
you should try updating the router firmware to latest version and see if that works. my old MR3020 had similar problem and that prob was rectified by updating it to latest firmware.
