I recently took BSNL 2Mbps home combo plan (500) . for first 2 days it was giving a download speed of 200-230 kbps, but then suddenly the speed dropped to just 25-30 kbps.:ashamed:at first i thought maybe there is some temporary problem with BSNL, but it is still persists.:(.every time i check my net speed it gives aroud 256kBps (i wonder if by any chance they have changed my plan from 2Mbps to 256KBps ??) .plz tell me what to do? i am really worried.thnx

Call 1957 and tell them your problem. I was having same problem but after calling it was fixed on same day.

ok ,i ranged them.they said they registered my complain , but they also gave me another no. and asked me to call that no. also and tell my complain.has any body have any idea about this ?

and here are some other stats from router(UT300R2U).

the line is perfect...........but some problem withu r config in the system....

do u use IDMan or any other download manager........

lawl whats perfect about this kanishka?:hysterical:sourab ur lines messed up. attenuation is way too high and SNR margin way too low. it can be a wiring problem or an exchange issue.what you can do on ur end is pretty straight forward.make sure u don't have parallel phones attached to ur lines, where in the phones are attached directly without the splitter in place. remove all phones and then check if the attenuation is still high...and speeds still slow.if the problem still persists then it wud most likely be an issue outside ur premises. ( exchange or junction box outside ).here is some info on attenuation and SNR margin:happy:SNR MarginIn general, a higher signal to noise ratio will result in less errors.6bB. or below = Bad and will experience no line synchronisation or intermittent synchronisation problems.7dB-10dB. = Fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions.11dB-20dB. = Good with little or no synchronisation problems20dB-28dB. = Excellent29dB. or above = OutstandingAttenuation RatesAttenuation is the loss of signal over distance. Unfortunately, dB loss is not just dependent on distance. It also depends on cable type and gauge (which can differ over the length of the cable), the number and location other connection points on the cable.20bB. and below = Outstanding20dB-30dB. = Excellent30dB-40dB. = Very Good40dB-50dB. = Good50dB-60dB. = Poor and may experience connectivity issues60dB. and above = Bad and will experience connectivity issues;)

yes, i do have parallel phone and slight unclear dial tone. but if this were the crux of the problem, then i wonder how did i got good speed for first 3 days:confused:(as these problems existed long before i took net connection )

anyway , then how to resolve these line problems? a lineman ?

you could do it yourself.. get a splitter and connect it before every parallel phone.. or just ensure that all telephones come behind one splitter..
