i talked with another owner of this netbook model. he said that samsung tools worked perfectly for him. i guess i messed up with experiments to fix both brightness and trackpad issues in one go.

Bad friends man. They didn't help me to find a lappy. Now they say that its screen is too small and causes eye strain.

10 inches is small most netbooks have a 10 inch display. 11 inches makes them a bit too expensive.

Got netbook. Little correction mine is NC108-A4. Installed Ubuntu 32bit. This one also has brightness issue. Once this 200MB update completes I'll add Samsung tools PPA and post the result.

I couldn't add PPA of Samsung tools. Donnow what is the problem.

Finally added PPA. Brightness thing worked. Still I can't scroll down/up in touchpad. Guys please help....

If you made the brightness thing to work, it's gonna help admin as well.

I just added Samsung display driver in DKMS format in Samsung tools PPA. It worked, I'll try that method you gave.
