i got the beta from their website's VIP section for free :)Played with it ...its very nice ...but very difficult if you have got used to swypeNow have to decide to go with Swype or Swiftkey :|

i never got used to swyping. it is simply too irritating on the small display. maybe better on tablets. i might purchase this one. i am sick of the android default keyboard. 2.3 came with a much improved version. but the suggestions are crappy. they do not adapt as per your usage. come to think of it, i have not purchased ANY android app. i cannot have this one as the first one. hehe. i guess i would buy tapatalk before buying this one.

Me too. . Swype isn't a product for small screens.

I use default LG keyboard, didn't like the android 2.2 keyboard

It's good that you got used to it.
I particularly hate that part when I have to type double characters like consecutive a(aa)

I am liking swiftkey though, makes typing a lot easier on portrait mode with auto correct feature. The suggestions are also accurate.

i am noticing some adaptation. like it would suggest words that i have typed before. i hope i get more time playing with this beta before they disable it. for now, i am not very sure if i can live with it permanently.

Just got my Desire HD upgraded to 2.3 OTA. HTC rocks in this one department. Contrary to what most have been saying, I find it a bit slower now, but I need to investigate why. Does anyone have the link to the stock Android Gingerbread keyboard in the market? The search results show junk

you might want to check out CyanogenMod

but then i am not sure if your HTC has a locked bootloader.

i have heard that resetting your phone after an OS update could resolve most of the problems with the phone's performance. could be worth a try.

This has a locked bootloader. HTC is yet to ship models without one, or unlock existing ones for that matter. I just feel too lazy to do all those firmware upgrades myself, else I had this Gingerbread ROM lying with me for almost 25 days now, but never bothered doing an upgrade myself. I just did a restart to my phone, and it seems to be fine now.

Yup ...you require 4 inch screen to use swype properly/efficiently.

By the way swype is way faster than pressing keys to type your message.

But if you are more adapted to pressing keys for typing ...swiftkey is indeed very nice and adaptive.

It's good that you got used to it.

Just finish the swype tutorial once ...it teaches you how to type capitals, double letters etc :)
