Hello fellow members, first of all i would like to apologize if my query is unnecessary making the forum here bulkier. i would try to be as brief as possible (as i have gone through posts related to my query, but still i wanted suggestions most suitable to mine). i have two issues i need your advice on :-1] Parallel connection : basically i have 2 telephones with same phone number at home (say A and B) in two separate rooms, and my net-connection in another room. i have 999 unltd connection. to connect to the net, i have to necessarily disconnect phone B from the line so as to be able to go online. phone A can remain connected. that way i get half of the bandwidth, but i do get connected and can surf and download. i do this in the daytime so that any calls on the landline dont go missed. but as is the case with parallel connections, i get disconnected whenever i get any call on the landline, and have to reconnect after the phone-conversation. at night there's no problem as i disconnect BOTH phones and enjoy FULL bandwidth. now i have gone through posts related to parallel connection, and have mostly seen people advising connecting the extension phones through additional ADSL filters (splitters) at each socket. i need to ask :-a} would this method solve the problem, ie, of disconnection of line whenever i get incoming call on landline during daytime, as also half-bandwidth one ?b} can i get these splitters at an electronics/related shop ?c} any special type of wiring needed ?2] contacting a lineman :- the line-stats of my connection are poor. i live at thane(w), and my local exchange is at sahayog nagar complex. i discussed this problem with an officer there, and he said you must be having internal phone-line problem, but MTNL doesn't deal with it. you should call an electrician for that. but on some posts i have seen people telling about their contacting their local lineman to get the problem solved. i wish to know what should be my approach regarding this ? if anyone's from the same area and can enlighten me, that would be uber cool ! thanks a lot friends for bearing with me ! i hope you won't mind :smile:waiting for your replies...

Hi,

1]

a} Yes.

b} Yes. If you can't find one at an electronics shop, order one off ebay.in

c} No.

2] This depends on the distance between your house and the telephone exchange. How much is the distance?

Understand that there is parallel phone connection at LOCATION 2 already.

Who laid this line? IF BSNL have made the Connection from their pillar BOX
did you pay additional charges ?

Call CC and make a complaint Location 1 is noisy or Intermittent, or
Ringer Tone volume is weak etc.

Then a line man will come and you can "Negotiate" cha pani with him!!!
Be prepared later, for regular visits whenever he feels like having a drink!

For parallel telephone connection for same Number, charges have to paid
for distance involved Km or part thereof. ( if feasible)

See about ADSL splitter No 29 here.
For Reliability and Speed use fo
29. Never use Two ADSL Splitters on same line for any parallel phone connections, Instead use phone extension for using multiple connections.

easy solution - Self to do - put splitter at at the line as soon as it enters your home. Connect modem to ADSL line from splitter and connect your 2 parallel phones from PHONE line of splitter.DONE... SIMPLE......
