Reliance Broadnet
Hi, I recently purchased a wired Reliance broadband connection. I was told that this is not an ADSL connection but a Metro Ethernet one. Hence there is a ethernet cable coming in from the wall socket. I also have to login on a reliance broadband page when I want an internet connection. I'm told this login is active for 6 hours after which it logs me out automatically. When I connect this cable to my laptop, everything works great. When I connect this cable to my wifi router (so that multiple computers can use this within the house) it keeps logs me out and the home page says that my connection was terminated. Any idea how I can solve this? As usual the customer care is of no use at all.

you may have to get your Mac address reset by Reliancethey have your PC mac address locked, once it is reset then connect to the Wifi router and it will lock the router's mac address

You can also change your wifi router's mac address via it's settings. Set your PC's mac address as your router's mac address.

this a good choice. can u tell me how?

what do you want to know?

the simple thing is that when they connect the ethernet cable to your PC lan card is that the company lockt your lan card's mac address

so when you try connecting through the router which has a different mac address then it doesn't work,so you have to reset the mac at company's end and then whichever device you use it on,it re locks the macaddress of that device,in this case the router

@hpb & @ATHUL_143. If this problem is caused by MAC address binding then iChaitanya is correct post #3. He is referring to MAC address cloning. Look for an option called 'MAC Address Clone' in your WiFi router.

BTW Which WiFi router do you have? Mine is a Linksys WRT54G in which you goto the tab 'MAC Address Clone'->'Enable'->'Clone your PC's MAC'->'Save'.

Reliance Binds the username / password with your mac address. In case you are trying to hook it up with a Router , you will need to clone your mac address ( only possible if your Router Support Cloning )

Even though he has to log in after every 6 hours.Observe one thing that if you disconnect your system or restart or anything like your comp network adaptor get reset. Will ip change or after every 24 hrs ip changes? As per my knowledge, reliance internet (Tikona also) is DHCP system which give new IP after every 24 hrs. If it is like that, then you would able to keep yourself logged in for 24 hours otherwise no choice.

Use the Keep Alive function in your Router and i am pretty much sure your connection will stay alive. If Router reboots then your connection needs to be re authenticated.

Yeah but some times it logs out after 24 hrs especially in Reliance.
