Folks, I did some calcs, please review and let me know if I got it right. Seems prepaid is the winner..

Prepaid

499(including taxes) X 13 months(365 days/28 days) = Rs 6504

Postpaid
499(base tariff) + 74.84(15% Service Tax) X 12 months(billing cycle) = Rs 6886.

From this perspective wont it make sense to go for prepaid with the freedom to upgrade/downgrade recharges as per our convenience?

On Postpaid tariffs applicable taxes will be charged. The Postpaid subscribers opting for the Auto-debit option using credit/debit cards/online transfer to pay their monthly mobile phone bill and opting for e-bill will be accorded an additional 15% discount on the bill value

so if you pay online and opt for auto debit and ebill then postpaid is winner ... Rs 5853.1 (15% less)

and if you are student then you are more winner... Rs 5164.5 (25% Less)

and if you opt for both i.e auto debit with ebill and you are a student then

Rs 6886 [Normal Price]
Rs 5164.5 [25% Less student discount on 6886]
Rs 4389.825 [15% Less on 5164.5 AutoDebit Discount]

So Totalling of Rs 4390

keeping data off when not in use and frequently checking usage will make sure you are not billed wrongly..

Also after allotted usage 0.05p / MB wont get you a lot high bills with free calling and sms

For me .. I am waiting for calls to get fixed then I will opt for Rs 149 Postpaid plan..

In fact its best one among others , coz downloaders won't get satisfied with data plans so broadband in home is mandatory with wifi..and while in road I use whatssup and fb and for that 300mb is enough for a month..

and for calling its unlimited Free for 1month with no roaming and std and no blackout days..

Rs 149 Plan [Normal Tariff ]
Rs 126.65 [ with Auto Debit and E-bill ]
Rs 95.00 [ with Auto Debit and E-bill + Student Discount ]

So it comes to about Rs 95 for unlimited free call for a month with 300mb data that too 4G and 100sms and unlimited jio apps is a good deal for me :)

and after 300mb , I can surely spend 0.05p for 1MB data usage for surfing whatssup and fb .. and btw android have build-in data monitor to check usage..

So chance for error is quite low... just set restriction is data usage in Android.

With AVOID, they downgrade you to 2g speeds after 3g/4g data is used up. I am expecting Jio to do a similar thing and cap speeds to 128kbps instead of charging 0.05p since at 4g speeds it would build up to massive postpaid bills if you are unaware.

edit: 0.5p / 10kb if im correct

Bro how you will get massive bill unless you download a lot without knowing your free data.. 0.05p for 1MB means 0.5p for 10mb and 5rs for 100mb ..

how you cannot know your data usage even after 100mb unless you are careless and download a lot without knowing your data.. Also there is a feature in all android mobile called Data Restriction , just set the billing cycle and your data limit , android will warn you of your usage is close to end or exausted just keep a watch then...

and keep your data off when not in use when your usage is close to end..

Further more Rs 5 for 100mb is wont get you with huge postpaid bills unless you are downloading in gb's which is not at all recommended in Rs 149 plan

OOPS :

3. 300 MB - 4G LTE Data free; usage beyond this will be charged at Rs.250/GB with 10 KB charging pulse

Need to enable data restrictions to avoid massive billing..

Sorry for wrong info earlier ! :/ there will be massive billing if data is not used properly.

Seems like JIO is not Data Centric its more over Voice Centric and a revamped up version of Reliance CDMA (which CDMA was offering under Magic Plans with 50% off on MNP Users) and now JIO is offering the same with more 50% off making it about Rs149 for Unlimited Free Calls..lol
