OK. Will give MTNL a try. Thanks

I already have airtel broadband for my home. Just need a decent 3G connection when outside. Also, airtel 3G gives good speed around 4MBPS, but their plans are costly starting from Rs.245

@invader

Go to network settings and set mode to wcdma only to test for 3G. Also, go to network.rcom.co.in to check for towers near your location.

Mtnl 3G has peak speeds of 2.8mbps for now, until their network upgrade takes place.

@dantool

Speed is location dependent. Peak speed is around 2.8-3 Mbps.

When forced to WCDMA, the network bars totally disappear. Also, the reliance towers are located around 3-5 kms from my home in the map.

2.8MBPS with MTNL should work fine with me. Will switch to MTNL.

@invader

Test the network before switching permanently. Last time I used mtnl on permanent basis (around 2 years ago), there was absolutely no coverage inside any major mall in Gurgaon.

But, mtnl coverage seems to improved since then. Much improved around my gurgaon house.

@x720 I require MTNL mainly for browsing while I am on the move.

I am with airtel since 5 years and satisfied but their 3G plans are costly. Besides, have airtel broadband at home.

@invader i am using mtnl 3G for last few years in my data card. service is patchy at best. max speed i get is 1Mbps.

i get HSDPA at my clinic, whereas EDGE at my home. both are just 1.2 km apart. HSDPA Gives 1Mbps speed consistently, whereas EDGE fails to connect most of the times.

I use it in roaming on BSNL Networks...so I download about 100 Gigs per month...I get around 4-5Mbps

Tested the reliance network in another location and got around 2MBPS speed.

Reliance network is not good near my home. Will give MTNL a try.
